Dedicated Skal Member Receives Prestige Award
Bangkok (Thailand) – April 25 – The prestigious Malai Sakolviphak Award, announced annually by the President of Skal International Bangkok, has been presented to long-serving Skal member Brinley Waddell. Skal, the world’s oldest and largest global travel/tourism networking organisation with nearly 17,000 members in 89 countries, celebrates its 80th anniversary today.
Mr Waddell, Managing Director of Bangkok-based SAAS4 Hospitality Ltd – a regional provider of advanced online reservations solutions to hotels and resorts – has served in a voluntary capacity as Events Director for the Skal Club in Bangkok for many years. He has also served as Secretary/Treasurer on Skal International Thailand’s Executive Committee and was recently elected as International Councillor for Thailand.
The award was presented by Skal Bangkok President Dale Lawrence. He said,”Brinley Waddell has made an outstanding contribution to Skal at local and national level for many years. This award is recognition of his dedication, enthusiasm and commitment to Skal in Bangkok and throughout Thailand.”
The award is presented annually in memory of Malai Sakolviphak, a well-known and highly respected tourism industry figure in Thailand. He passed away in 2011 after many years of distinguished service to Skal at local and international level.
In addition to providing platforms for discussion, debate and networking Skal International Bangkok also promotes the excellent work of NGOs such as ECPAT International and World Vision’s Project Childhood Prevention Pillar that campaign against child exploitation in the region. Skal Bangkok’s nominated charity is the Good Shepherd Sisters Fatima Centre. Skal members in Bangkok are currently sponsoring the High School education of one of the Centre’s teenage students.
