Newly Elected Chairperson of PATA Thailand Chapter

Bangkok (Thailand) – March 12, 2014 – The PATA Thailand Chapter Executive Committee elected Mrs Ben Montgomery of Centara Hotels & Resorts as their new Chapter Chairperson and Mr Luzi Matzig of Asian Trails as their new Vice Chairman for a 2-year term (2014-2016).

Mrs Ben Montgomery, the newly elected Chairperson, said: “First of all, on behalf of the PATA Thailand Chapter Executive Committee members, I would like to express our sincere appreciation to Mr Bert van Walbeek, the former PATA Thailand Chapter Chairman. In the past 4 years under Bert’s Chairmanship, he has done a remarkable job lifting the spirit of the Chapter. He geared the Chapter to work more closely with stakeholders and the authorities namely the Tourism Council of Thailand (TCT) and Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT). Secondly, I would like to thank the Executive Committee Members for electing me as your Chairperson this term. My mission is simple. I work with passion, to encourage and be part of the team to fulfill the association’s objectives. The Chapter plan this year is to continue our educational workshops and luncheons, student scholarship competition and networking parties. ”

Ben is recognized as one of PATA’s most devoted family members. Before joining Centara in 2012, she worked for PATA at its head office in Bangkok as PATA Regional Director – Greater Mekong / Director of PATA Chapter Development. During her term with PATA, she helped set up five new PATA Chapters and implemented a new strategy to expand the PATA Student Chapters.

Currently, Ben is a corporate brand ambassador for Centara Hotels & Resorts, the biggest and fastest growing Thai-owned hotel chain. She is responsible for strengthening relations between Centara and the owners of Centara-managed hotels located in 11 countries in Asia and Indian Ocean. She represents Centara in various Industry Councils and Associations.
