Ramada Plaza Bangkok Sponsors Tourism Safety Forum
Bangkok (Thailand) – October 15, 2013 – Ramada Plaza Bangkok Menam Riverside co-sponsored the recent Safety and Security Brainstorm & Forum organized by the Tourism Committee of the Joint Foreign Chambers in Thailand (JFCCT), PATA Thailand Chapter (Pacific Asia Travel Association) and SKAL International Thailand; and supported by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Tourism Council of Thailand and the Thai Royal Tourist Police.
The first brainstorm and forum was held on 15 October with a follow-up meeting with expertise speakers and feedback from the first session scheduled for 14 November 2013.
The objective of this forum was to enhance confidence in the Thai destination as a safe and desirable choice to visit; and to reduce negative economic impact for all tourism stakeholders with interest in Thailand.
The Welcome Addresses were presented by Mr. Marc Spiegel, Vice Chairman of JFCCT, Mr, Dale Lawrence, President of SKAL International Bangkok and Mr. Bert van Walbeek, Chairman PATA Thailand Chapter. Mrs. Juthaporn Rerngronasa, Deputy Governor for International Marketing TAT concluded the welcome address with a note of appreciation to all parties in organizing this important forum for tourism in Thailand and expressed TAT’s strong support.
The members for the panel discussion on ‘Facilitating & Balancing Safety & Security” were HE Joan A. Boer, the Ambassador of The Netherlands, Ms. Kelly Anne Hayden from ESCAP Disaster Risk Reduction, Asst. Prof. Dr. Kom Campiranon from DPU International College, Pol. Col. Archayon Kraithong from the Royal Thai Tourist Police and Mr. Andrew Wood from SKAL International Thailand.
About 150 delegates from tourism-related, private and government sectors and non-profit organizations also participated in the breakup brainstorm discussions on ‘Enhancing awareness for risk and crisis management in the Thai Tourism Industries’, ‘Educating and alerting the tourists before and during their stays’, ‘Cooperating with the public sector stakeholders’ and ‘Cheating the Cheaters’.
The follow-up for the free forum is scheduled for 14 November 2013 at Ramada Plaza Bangkok Menam Riverside.
