The hotel took the opportunity to showcase its MICE staging advantages and reputation to the influential delegates from all over the world.

Plaza Athénée Bangkok, A Royal Méridien Hotel offers 5,600 sqm of MICE facilities featuring 3 ballrooms and 25 meeting rooms. Among the array are the distinguished Athéneum Meetings Rooms + Lounge along with iconic Kandhavas Place and Pimarn Siam Hall venues.

Differentiating the hotel from others is its status as a pioneer of sustainable meetings, being the first in the world to achieve ISO 20121 certification for designing and delivering sustainable events. Every year the hotel arrange scores of Green Meetings consistent with ISO 20121 and it has passed the rigorous recertification audits in successive years.

As it implements an increasingly sustainable business model, the hotel is moving ever closer to its goal of 100% organic operations. It has already converted to serving only organic rice throughout, from the restaurants to the staff canteen. The rice is exclusively harvested from the Satjatham Rice Project in Thailand’s Amnat Charoen Province which carries Organic Agriculture Certification Thailand confirming it meets the exacting ACT-IFOAM organic standard.

The hotel is also a leading participant in a new “Farm to Function Project” that supports local communities by only buying rice directly from farmers. The “Farm to Table” concept, where sourcing and the supply chain of all ingredients and products used throughout the hotel’s award-winning restaurants, is also tightly embraced.

Coming next is applying organic values to welcome amenities in guest rooms, including organic rice crispy chocolates placed on pillows after turndown.
