Grand Wailea Presents Alan Wong’s Amasia
Hawaii (January 5, 2012) – Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort, in cooperation with Chef Alan Wong, announces ALAN WONG’S AMASIA as the name of the new restaurant set to open in spring 2012 at the resort.
Imagine tasting the flavors of Asia in Chef Wong’s unique and impeccable style. Or do flavors from Peru, Singapore, Spain, and other global destinations excite your palate? ALAN WONG’s AMASIA will capture these taste sensations through the sharing of small plates, offering a global marketplace of different cultures where east meets west in Hawaii.
“Food brings people together, at the kitchen table or in the plantation fields in many destinations. I want to create an elevated local interpretation of this cultural exchange,” said Chef Wong. “Guests will experience a sense of place, as they see, hear, smell and feel the melding of exotic flavors from around the world, featuring the best of Maui’s bounty from the land and sea.”
ALAN WONG’s AMASIA will feature a sushi bar and a robata for grilled delicacies. The bar will be pouring private labels and creative cocktails inspired by its transcontinental menu.
Amasia by definition is the converging of continents. Chef Wong will journey across oceans exploring food and bringing his discoveries for guests to experience at ALAN WONG’S AMASIA. With each return visit, guests will discover new dishes inspired by Chef Wong’s food adventures in addition to the signature dishes that keep guests coming back for more.
The former “Kincha” restaurant is currently undergoing a $2 million dollar renovation and will be transformed into the location for ALAN WONG’S AMASIA. It will be the third restaurant for Chef Wong in the Hawaiian Islands. To stay up to date on details as they are announced, visit www.wailearesortdining.com.
