Lamu (Kenya) – February 13, 2017 (travelindex.com) – Musicians Idd Aziz and Labdi will be attending a drug rehabilitation workshop so to raise awareness of the issues of drug addiction in the Lamu County. Drug addiction has proven to be a problem in our society and we believe Art is a fun way of engaging the community effectively on why we need to change this habit.
On Friday 17th February: We kick-off with an amazing exhibition at the Lamu Fort, featuring paintings and sculptures from over 40 artists that cut across our globe with most of them coming from Kenyan and European.
Later on we will have our amazing Kenyan artists Idd Aziz, Labdi gracing the
Lamu Town Square for one of a kind concert. The concert will be supported by Audio Sans Frontier who are there to ensure you enjoy every minute of the concert.
On Saturday 18th: A traditional dhow race will take place in Shela.
Sunday 19th: A sailing concert with amazing acoustic bands is scheduled to end the festive.
The mission of the festival is to engage with drug users in the town and work with them and their families through new rehabilitation methods to get use down in the area.
