The Most Successful Affiliate Summit Ever

New York City (USA) – August 28, 2012 – Affiliate Summit East 2012 took place August 12-14, 2012 in New York City. The exhibit hall was open on the second and third days. Last week, a record number of affiliate marketers got together to learn, network, and take control of their careers. Affiliate Summit East 2012 brought together over 5,000 affiliate marketers at the New York Hilton, which marks nine years of consecutive growth for the conference.

Affiliate marketing works like this … a website on a topic like a sports team or hobby features relevant ads. When a visitor clicks through to purchase the product being advertised, the website owner earns a percentage of the sale. It’s old-fashioned commission-based sales with an online twist.

Affiliate Summit West 2013, the premier affiliate marketing conference, is taking place January 13-15, 2013 at the Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

The conference was founded by Missy Ward and Shawn Collins in 2003 for the purpose of providing educational sessions on the latest industry issues and fostering a productive networking environment for affiliate marketers. Affiliate Summit launched a new discussion forum today at http://affiliatesummit.com/networking/ for marketers to meet, network and learn for free throughout the year.

About Affiliate Summit
Affiliate Summit was founded by Missy Ward and Shawn Collins in 2003 for the purpose of providing educational sessions on the latest industry issues and fostering a productive networking environment for affiliate marketers. Attendees at Affiliate Summit events break out into five main categories: agencies, affiliates, merchants, networks, and vendors. Affiliates account for about a third of attendees at Affiliate Summit.

History of Affiliate Summit
Just nine years ago, when people thought about affiliate marketing conferences, it was generally a negative connotation. At the time, the reigning conference was Affiliate Force, an annual cruise around the Caribbean.

Shawn Collins and Missy Ward helped to coordinate those conferences, but they thought there were ways it could be done better. To make a long story short, Shawn and Missy offered their opinions and were dismissed. So they decided to create an alternative shortly after the April 2003 edition of Affiliate Force.

The first Affiliate Summit took place in November 2003 in New York City. The goal was to differentiate from other conferences by focusing on content and networking. The first Affiliate Summit introduced Speed Networking, as well as an agenda heavy on the hot issues of the day in affiliate marketing.
