Atalaya Golf & Country Club Joins IAGTO

travelindex-hotels-travel-directory-1287Atalaya (Spain) – March 24, 2015 – Since last August 2014, Atalaya Golf & Country Club became part of the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO), the leading golf travel organization worldwide. Atalaya Golf & Country Club is located on the Costa del Sol in southern Spain and holds some of the top golf courses in the area. The club has two 18-hole courses the Old Course and New course.

The Old Course was opened in 1968 and designed by Bernard von Limburger, the 1925 German Golf Championships winner who became his country’s finest golf course architect of the time. With its wide fairways and large elevated greens, this championship course provides a challenge to golfers at all levels.

Part of the beauty with the Old Course is the fact that it was designed in a completely different golf era, before the urbanization boom that occurred in Costa del Sol.

Paul Krings designed the New Course, and following the opening in 1990 he was commended for an outstanding golf course. A considerable amount of lakes put the golfer’s ball placement skill to the test and the fairways are coated with blossoming wild flowers and shrubbery.

The New Course is definitely shorter than the Old and is generally considered to be more casual but its design guarantee a challenging round of golf.

The Club has also a golf academy which provides to all golfers the tools to improve on any aspect of the game, with the best facilities: Putting Green, Pitching Green, Practice bunker, simulation of a complete golf hole and Driving range.

In addition, the players will find other facilities such as: locker rooms, fitness, bar, restaurant, pro shop and rental services.

From August 2014, Atalaya Golf & Country Club joined IAGTO and they expect to receive much more players from around the world during 2015, thanks to this adhesion, attracted by the natural landscape that surrounds our two golf courses and the excellent climate of the area the whole year.

Established in 1997, IAGTO’s membership comprises 2303 accredited golf tour operators, golf resorts, hotels, golf courses, receptive operators, airlines, tourist boards, approved media and business partners in 100 countries including, at its core, 576 specialist golf tour operators in 62 countries. It is estimated that IAGTO’s operators control over 85% of golf holiday packages sold worldwide and turnover more than €2.1 billion per year.
