Celebrating International Guests and Local Travel in Thailand

Bangkok (Thailand) – October 3, 2016 – (travelindex.com) – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) welcomes everyone to the Expat Fair Thailand 2016, which aims at celebrating the Kingdom’s vibrant and varied expat community, and encouraging everyone to travel within Thailand to enjoy its attractions.

With a Food Fun Fair theme, the event is being held on 1 and 2 October, 2016, from 10.00 to 22.00 Hrs. at Fragrant Park on Sukhumvit Soi 36, a short walk from the Thong Lo BTS Station. The Expat Fair 2016 is free and open to everyone. There will be food trucks selling international cuisine all day, so people should remember to bring a hearty appetite.

Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, TAT Governor said, “Thailand has a diverse expatriate population, many of whom have strong links with the kingdom and who express great love for Thailand and its people. The Expat Fair Thailand 2016 celebrates these bonds while encouraging expats and locals to travel more within Thailand and discover amazing stories and unique local experiences.”

There will be a range of fun, games and performances taking place on both days, with the chance for expats and locals to enjoy traditional Thai pastimes and to take part in language and cooking challenges.

At the Expat Fair 2016, TAT will also be promoting the kingdom’s 12 Hidden Gems, the lovely attractions that showcase Thailand’s five regions, by offering activities unique to each destination. These include ceramic painting from Lampang, rice growing from Suphan Buri, indigo cloth dying from Nakhon Si Thammarat, and the chance to make masks as used in the Phi Ta Khon Festival in Loei.

There will also be a prize draw to win one of 40 Nok Air tickets to destinations in Thailand, with 20 tickets being given out on each day of the event.

On Saturday 1 October, highlights will include an opening ceremony; a display of Japanese drumming by Ryukyu Budan Shoryu Matsuri Daiko; an Indian dance performed by the Indian Cultural Centre and concerts from expat Luk Thung singer Ms. Christy Gibson and the Korean/Thai hip-hop group 316 performance.

On Sunday, 2 October, event highlights include Ingrid and Max, famous singers from the voice who will give a concert; Japanese drumming, Indian dancing and Mexican guitar music. The Expat Fair Thailand will end with a mini concert by Luk Thung singers Mr. Jonas Anderson and Ms. Christy Gibson.

During the fair, well-known foreigners who live in Thailand will talk about things they love most about the kingdom. These include former Miss Universe, Ms. Natalie Glebova, and Australian, author, and television personality, Mr. Andrew Biggs, who will also take part in a cooking challenge.

Strong relations with people living and working here help build links and confidence in Thailand among expats and their families and create a positive vibe in the community,” Mr. Yuthasak added.
