A Crystal Floating Trophy for the overall winner will be perpetually displayed at Muthaiga Golf Club with the winners name engraved, while the winner will keep a smaller crystal trophy as a memory.

So far, a total of 150 players, mainly from corporate organizations, have listed their names to vie for some prizes which include two Etihad Airways Business Class tickets to any Etihad destination in the world.

However, Tob Cohen, the event’s co-ordinator, said he still can accommodate 50 more players if they book their slots by Friday. The entry fee for individual player is Sh10,000.

“We have received tremendous support from the more than 28 sponsors and now we are more than set to host this historical event which will be the largest international amateur golf event to be held in Kenya with more than Sh4 million worth of 21 golf travel prizes,” said Cohen.

Talented girl golfers

He said the support of the 28 sponsors is also aimed at raising funds to support the Rose Naliaka Academy, the only golf academy of its own kind which since started, as produced very talented girl golfers some of whom like Naomi Wafula has not only won major events in the country, but has also represented the country in international tournaments.

“Those who will play well will have everything to celebrate for as there are so many international and local prizes’’ added Cohen.

Besides the Etihad Business class tickets, there will also be a two nights accommodation and green fees for two at the Fairmont Zimbali Country Club in North Durban South Africa and two nights, two nights at the St Regis Abu Dhabi and golf at Yas Links and Saadiyat Golf Clubs.

The Kenya Golf Trophy will be in support of the Rose Naliaka Golf Foundation, whose objective it is to promote golf to all while teaching golf to underprivileged girls.
