Orange Title Sponsor of the 3rd Kenya Golf Trophy
Nairobi (Kenya) – August 9, 2014 – Integrated telecommunications solutions provider Orange Kenya will be the title sponsor for the third edition of the Kenya Golf Trophy (KGT). Announcing the KSh 6 million sponsorship for the October 10, 2014 tournament at the Muthaiga Golf Club, company CEO Mickael Ghossein says that Orange will be maintaining a strategic presence in sports in Kenya.
“Orange already has a very firm presence in the country’s and continent’s hockey scene through the Orange Ladies Hockey Team that has held an iron grip of the National Hockey League Women’s title for the last 16 years.” This team will also be defending the Continental Club Champions title later this year; a title that has been won on six different occasions.
“We therefore see our association with Golf as yet another strategic avenue to affirm our presence in sports and grow Golf, especially among the upcoming players in the country,” Mr. Ghossein adds.
Launched three years ago, the Kenya Golf Trophy is an initiative of Tobs Cohen, Owner of Tobs Kenya Golf Safaris, Travel & Events. This company, which was founded 23 years ago by its owner, has a mission to promote Kenya as a world class golf tourism destination. The Orange Kenya Golf Trophy has grown to become the biggest corporate amateur golf tournament in Africa, attracting tens of sponsors and hundreds of golfers, year on year.
The Kenya Golf Trophy takes up the gauntlet as yet another avenue to promote Kenya’s profile as a superb golf destination. International players will also participate for the more than 20 high value prizes together with Kenyan golfers, including those who have finished as winners runner-up from two qualifying rounds this August at Muthaiga Golf Club and Royal Nairobi Golf Club respectively.
