Young Hoteliers Summit in Lausanne

Lausanne (Switzerland) – 8 March 2012 – The third annual Young Hoteliers Summit, held at the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne, is fast approaching and promises to deliver value to students and the hospitality industry by offering collaboration between the events’ stakeholders. Hyatt Hotels & Resorts will provide the YHS 2012 Challenge, and the Royal Partners of the event are Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, Starwood Hotels and Resorts and Expedia. This year’s program includes presentations by Christophe Navarre (CEO Moët Hennessy), Gerard Greene (CEO YOTEL) and Gebhard Rainer (Managing Director Hyatt EMEA); as well as focus groups with Hyatt, Four Seasons, Expedia, Starwood and 25 Hours Hotels. Workshops will be given by iTaste, ChateauForm, Wade & Co, Brand Karma, Stand & Deliver, STR Global and the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group. The industry leaders and brands that will be attending Young Hoteliers Summit 2012 stand testament to the success of the previous two years and assure that this year’s event will deliver fantastic success yet again.

With 54 students participating from 19 hospitality schools from across the globe, this 2012 edition will allow more students than previously to connect with industry leaders. Companies attend the summit in order to gain insights from young minds and to meet the future talents of the industry. The summit encourages hospitality institutions to participate in students’ formation and skilled growth in preparation for the professional world; in turn companies have the chance to promote their brands in the eyes of these gifted young hoteliers.

The Young Hoteliers Summit has proven to be an event at which future employers can meet and assess students comprehensively, in an environment which is different to the traditional interview. This allows for companies to gain insights into how these students put theory into practise, and benefit from comprehensive education in hospitality.. Furthermore, the summit implicates companies in the education of students and offers a more up-to-date understanding of current curriculums – this is an invaluable benefit to closing the gap between education and industry. Ultimately this helps to align expectations of both hospitality students and institutions, which will in turn lead to a fruitful partnership between the two.
