Trust Hospitality Expands in the Caribbean and Latin America
Miami, FL (USA) – 3 May 2012 – Trust Hospitality is proud to announce the opening of a regional office in Salvador, Brazil, led by Managing Director, Egbert Bloemsma, a hotel veteran and Brazilian resident. Joining Trust in 2011, Mr. Bloemsma brings more than 25 years of experience to his role having worked in the industry as a general manager and a hospitality consultant, first in the Netherlands, France and then in Portugal. For the past five years he has provided consulting services to several developers of mixed use projects in Brazil.
“We are truly excited to announce our presence in Brazil with the opening of our new office. We view Brazil as a tremendous long-term opportunity and now we have the platform in place to expand our management capabilities to other properties and regions, including the management responsibility for two new great boutique hotels,” says Richard Millard, Chairman of Trust Hospitality.
In October 2011, Trust Hospitality took on the management of Zank Hotel www.zankhotel.com.br which is located in the “Zona Vermelho” section of Salvador and will open its renovated restaurant and lounge this summer. In March 2012, Trust added the Patachocas Eco Resort www.patachocas.com.br, an island boutique resort south of Salvador which will be repositioned over the coming year.
Expansion in the Caribbean and Latin America include management of: Zemi Beach Resort www.zemibeach.com, in Shoal Bay Anguilla, a new build luxury resort under construction and projected to open the first phase of 2013. On the north coast of Honduras, in Bahia de Tela, Los Micos www.losmicosresort.com is part of a public-private development that will include a Gary Player golf course and spa. Ideally located in the middle of an 8-hectare national park, the resort is scheduled to open in the summer of 2013. In Haiti, Trust will take over the management of Hotel Mont Joli www.hotelmontjoli.net in Cap Hatien, currently a 40 room hotel that is planning to increase its inventory to 100 rooms in the next 18 months.
In Colombia we announce two properties: In Bogota, on April 28, Trust opened B3 Virrey, a lifestyle boutique hotel in the “Zona Confort” featuring 128 guestrooms. Designed to target business travelers and offering original food and beverage options, this is the first of 12 B3 hotels to be built and operated throughout major cities in Colombia. Trust Hospitality worked closely with local developer Unika Promotora to develop the B3 hotel concept www.hotelesb3.com. In Cartagena, summer of 2012, Casa San Agustin www.hotelcasasanagustin.com will set a new standard of luxury. Set within the Old City, the hotel features 31 rooms and suites and includes an upscale restaurant and ultra-lounge “Alma.”
“Adding these properties to those that we already operate in Brazil, Panama and Mexico, enhances our presence and capabilities in the Caribbean and Latin America. Being located in Miami with a multi-lingual staff and offering state-of-the-art technology makes us uniquely positioned to service these markets as we look forward to growing our portfolio in this region over time,” says Patrick Goddard, President of Trust Hospitality. These properties allow Trust Hospitality to expand beyond its initial base in North America, where it currently manages numerous boutique properties in New York City, Miami, Milwaukee, St. Louis, and Hawaii.
